If dental anxiety is keeping you from achieving a healthy, confident smile, NELA Dental is here with several sedation dentistry options.

Studies show that nearly 75% of adults experience some level of dental anxiety, and about 30% avoid getting the care they need because of it. If you feel nervous about sitting in the dental chair, you're not alone. At NELA Dental, we understand this common concern and are committed to helping you feel relaxed and at ease every step of the way.

Your oral health is closely connected to your overall health, and we don't want anxiety to stand in the way of the care you deserve. That's why we offer multiple levels of sedation tailored to your needs.

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide, often called "laughing gas," is a mild sedative that you breathe in through a small mask. It creates a gentle sense of euphoria while helping to reduce discomfort and anxiety. This option works especially well for patients with mild nervousness. The best part? The effects wear off quickly once the mask is removed, allowing you to resume your day as usual.

Oral Sedation

Oral sedation involves taking a prescribed anti-anxiety medication shortly before your appointment. This helps you feel calm and relaxed throughout your visit while remaining awake and responsive. Because the effects can linger, you will need someone to drive you home afterward.

IV Sedation

NELA Dental is one of the few offices in the area to offer IV sedation. Also known as intravenous conscious sedation, this method delivers anti-anxiety medication directly into your bloodstream during treatment. Before starting, we apply a topical anesthetic to ensure your comfort.

The calming effects begin quickly, and the dosage can be adjusted as needed throughout your procedure. While some patients become so relaxed that they drift off to sleep, most remain awake but feel deeply at ease. You won't experience discomfort, and many patients say their appointment feels like it passes in no time.

Don't let anxiety prevent you from maintaining a healthy smile. Talk with our team about your concerns, and we'll help you choose the sedation option that's right for you. We look forward to helping you feel comfortable, confident, and completely at ease in our care.
